Research Coordination Meeting Advances SCSC-SCEIPC Academic Partnership
SURALLAH, South Cotabato — South Cotabato State College (SCSC) and the South Cotabato Economic and Investments Promotion Center (SCEIPC) convened for an Academic Partnership Coordination Meeting on July 2 at the SCSC Community Outreach Center to discuss the progress and next steps of their ongoing collaboration.
The meeting gathered SCSC officials, focal persons, and members of the core team from the Research and Development Office, academic units, and other concerned institutional offices. Representatives from SCEIPC also participated to provide updates and discuss the direction of the partnership.
Discussions centered on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between SCSC and the Provincial Government of South Cotabato. Participants reviewed the current status of the partnership, refined coordination mechanisms, and identified priority actions to further strengthen collaboration.
Among the key agenda items were the proposed student research database system, the harmonized calendar of activities, and the agreed timelines, deliverables, and responsibilities of the offices involved. These measures aim to establish a more organized process for identifying, reviewing, and monitoring student research outputs that may contribute to local development and investment priorities.
SCSC President Edward Lovell B. Brillantes underscored the importance of creating a clear mechanism for selecting student research outputs that align with the province’s priority development and investment areas. He said the identified studies will undergo proper screening and evaluation before they may be considered for possible linkage with investors, industries, or development partners.
Through the partnership, SCSC and SCEIPC seek to bridge academic research with the development needs of South Cotabato. The initiative is expected to create opportunities for student research outputs to serve as references for feasibility studies, investment-related projects, and other community- and industry-driven initiatives.
The coordination meeting marked another step in strengthening collaboration between the academe and the provincial government in advancing research, innovation, and sustainable development in South Cotabato.
