SCSC Turns Over Potable Water Source Project to Little Baguio Elementary School–Lemluma Extension and Sitio Kaong Community

SURALLAH, South Cotabato – The South Cotabato State College (SCSC) successfully turned over its Potable Water Source Support under the Adopt-a-School and Adopt-a-Community Initiative Project to the Little Baguio Elementary School-Lemluma Extension and Sitio Kaong in Barangay Little Baguio, Surallah, South Cotabato.

The turnover ceremony was led by Dr. Joebert C. Legreso, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Mr. Nikki C. Cordero, MAST, Director for Extension Services, together with the SCSC team and project partners.

The project will benefit 169 pupils, faculty, and staff of Little Baguio Elementary School-Lemluma Extension and 50 households in Sitio Kaong by providing them with access to safe and clean water.

Ms. Salvacion D. Sevilla, school principal, expressed her gratitude to SCSC for helping provide a reliable source of safe water for the learners. Meanwhile, Sitio Leader Ms. Gemma Kaong thanked SCSC and its partners, saying that their community had struggled with an inadequate water supply for almost a decade.

Dr. Legreso reaffirmed the College’s commitment to community development and urged the beneficiaries to protect and sustain the project for future generations.

Dr. May Rose Espia-Macrohon, BTVTED ACP Program Chair, emphasized the importance of safe water in promoting the health and well-being of children, while Dr. Mylene Grace C. Denona, Dean of the Institute of Agriculture, encouraged the community to take care of the water facility and expressed hope for future projects that would further improve water access in the area.

For his part, Mr. Cordero thanked the Save the Water for Every Child Philippines Foundation for donating the units of the Squirt Water Filtration System to the two beneficiaries. He said the donated filtration systems would help safeguard the quality of potable water and ensure a sustainable supply of safe drinking water for the communities.

The initiative was also supported by College President Dr. Edward Lovell B. Brillantes, whose commitment to community extension programs continues to bring meaningful and transformative services to partner communities.

The turnover ceremony was witnessed by SCSC faculty and staff, fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Agriculture students, BS Development Communication interns, community members, and project partners.
