Where Ideas Ignite: SCSC Scholarly SPARX 2026 Showcases Student Research, Innovation, and Enterprise

South Cotabato State College (SCSC), through its Research and Development Office, successfully held Scholarly SPARX (Student Pitching and Research Expo) 2026 on June 2, 2026 at the SCSC Gymnasium and the Community Outreach Center. The event gathered student-researchers from the Institute of Agriculture (IA), Institute of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Management (IBEM), and Institute of Teacher Education (ITED) for a one-day showcase of research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

With the theme “Empowering Young Minds through Research and Innovation for a Sustainable and Equitable Future,” the expo featured five major competition categories: Research Paper and Oral Presentation, Research Poster Presentation, Policy Pitch, and Business Model Canvas (BMC) Pitch.

Distinguished experts from various fields joined SPARX for the first time. For the Research Paper and Oral Presentation, the panel included Engr. Roberto E. Tabal, MSAE; Skeezer John B. Paz, PhD; and Marlon L. Viejo, MPOPS. For the Research Poster Presentation, evaluations were led by Kimberly Jean B. Surmion, RPh, MSPH; Mark L. Bordomeo, RCh; and Clint Allen M. Reyes, RCh, RChT, LPT. Meanwhile, the Business Model Canvas and Policy Pitch categories were evaluated by Mae Joy E. Emboltorio, EnP; Leonardo B. Ballon, EnP, MTRM; and Andrew Ian Dormitorio, EnP. 

The activity was graced by strong institutional support, with messages from Dr. Edward Lovell B. Brillantes, SUC President I, and Dr. Joebert C. Legreso, Vice President for Academic Affairs, who both emphasized their commitment to strengthening student research culture, innovation, and experiential learning platforms such as the Scholarly SPARX.

This second year of Scholarly SPARX stood out as one of SCSC’s comprehensive student-centered academic platforms.
