South Cotabato State College proudly took part in the 32nd Regional Symposium on Research and Development Highlights

USM Kabacan, Cotabato – South Cotabato State College proudly took part in the 32nd Regional Symposium on Research and Development Highlights organized by SOXAARRDEC, an annual gathering that continues to strengthen research culture and collaboration across the region.

Guided by this year’s theme, “Empowering Communities through AANR Research and Development in the SOCCSKSARGEN Region,” the symposium brought together a diverse community of researchers, educators, scientists, and sectoral partners. The event served as a dynamic platform for sharing innovative ideas, presenting emerging research trends, and showcasing breakthroughs in agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources (AANR) that aim to contribute to sustainable development in the region.

South Cotabato State College participated in the Poster Category – Research Division with the entry “First Glimpse into the Ichthyofauna of Allah River, South Central Mindanao, Philippines.” This study highlights the importance of documenting local fish biodiversity as a foundation for future conservation and resource management efforts. Through this participation, SCSC reaffirmed its commitment to advancing research that supports environmental stewardship and community empowerment.

The event was graced by a distinguished panel of evaluators: Dr. Juanito T. Batalon, Deputy Executive Director for R&D of DOST-PCAARRD; Dr. Naomi G. Tangonan, DOST Lifetime Scientist and Professor Emeritus of USM; and Dr. Emmanuel P. Leaño, Professor VI of Central Mindanao University. Their introduction was facilitated by Dr. Julius Jerome G. Ele, Consortium Director of SOXAARRDEC, who emphasized the crucial role of collaborative research in addressing regional and national challenges. South Cotabato State College extends its gratitude to SOXAARRDEC, the evaluators, and all participating institutions for fostering a meaningful platform where research excellence thrives. The College remains steadfast in its mission to contribute impactful studies that support the development of the SOCCSKSARGEN region and beyond.
