Oroquieta Agro-Industrial School Conducts Benchmarking Activity at South Cotabato State College

March 25, 2025 – South Cotabato, Philippines – In an effort to strengthen its institutional processes and gain valuable insights into the recognition process by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), a delegation from Oroquieta Agro-Industrial School (OAIS) visited South Cotabato State College (SCSC) on March 25, 2025. The purpose of the benchmarking activity was to guide OAIS in understanding the process that led to SCSC’s successful recognition as a Higher Education Institution (HEI), following the enactment of Republic Act 11150, which formalized the charter law of the institution.
The OAIS delegates, composed of: Engr. Lee R. Catane, Vocational School Administrator II Daphne D. Beniga, Assistant Professor IV Engr. Harley Gil D. Saren, Instructor III Riza D. Eyas, Librarian II were warmly welcomed by SCSC’s leadership, with the delegation receiving guidance from SCSC President, Edward Lovell B. Brillantes, PhD, on how the Surallah National Agricultural School (SUNAS) transitioned to South Cotabato State College. The team sought advice on the necessary steps and processes involved in obtaining CHED recognition for their institution.


SCSC’s team shared valuable insights and experiences that helped OAIS understand the procedures, including: Rosemarie S. Diamonon, EdD, Vice President for Academic Affairs Edgar Paolo M. Macrohon, MM, Chief Administrative Officer Rhea E. Savarez, College Registrar III Atty. Maria Gemma J. Oquendo, Attorney IV Joebert C. Legreso, PhD, OSAS Director/Associate Professor I May Rose Espia-Marcohon, PhD, Assistant Professor III Kristel Mae R. Hablero, College Librarian III These individuals shared their knowledge and expertise, detailing the crucial steps involved in SCSC’s journey to CHED recognition.
They provided practical advice and insights into policies and procedures necessary to achieve such recognition, emphasizing the importance of meeting CHED’s standards and regulations.




The visit marked a crucial moment for OAIS, as it aims to enhance its educational standing and future potential as a recognized higher education institution, drawing inspiration from the experience and success of SCSC.
The collaboration between the two institutions highlights the importance of knowledge-sharing and support among educational establishments striving to achieve greater academic excellence.
