The South Cotabato State College (SCSC) proudly celebrated the 2024 Indigenous Peoples Month and the 27th commemoration of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA) on October 30, 2024. This year’s theme was βππππ¦πππ, βπ¦π£π₯π¦π£πππ, πππ βπ ππ π£πππ ππππππππ π¦π€ βππ π‘πππ€ πππ ππππππππ π¦π€ πππ π¨πππππ.β
The event featured π¨πππ. π¨π πππ πΉπππ π³ππππππ, the newly appointed Regional Director of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Region XII, as the guest speaker. The celebration was organized by the π²πππππππππ π΄ππ-πππππ ππ πΊππππ πͺπππππππ πΊππππ πͺππππππ (π²ππ΄πππΊπ), with assistance from the π©πΊ π«ππππππππππ πͺππππππππππππ π«πππππππππ, both chaired by π«π. π±ππππ π©ππ πΌ. π΅πππ π±π.
Attendees enjoyed various cultural presentations that showcased the rich heritage of different ethnic groups in the region. Each program prepared Indigenous Peoples (IP) booths that exhibited traditional foods, agricultural tools, clothing, lifestyles, and symbols representative of IP communities, adding vibrancy to the celebration.
Overall, the event successfully achieved its goals of highlighting the authentic culture of Indigenous Peoples in SOX. Indeed, SCSC is an IP-friendly institution that respects and values cultural diversity.
