SCSC Personnel Participate in DA-NUPAP Beekeeping Training, Receive Bee Starter Kit
GENERAL SANTOS CITY | September 14–15, 2026 — The Department of Agriculture (DA), through the National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (NUPAP), conducted a two-day beekeeping training on September 14–15, 2026, at London Beach Resort, General Santos City, to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills in apiculture and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
Two personnel from South Cotabato State College (SCSC), Engr. Maria Gretle Joy P. Sebastian and Engr. Raniel J. Ojanola, represented the institution at the two-day event. Charles Lance Estocapio, a 2022 Young Farmers Challenge awardee, served as the resource speaker and shared his expertise and practical experience in beekeeping and bee production.
Following the training, each participating organization, including SCSC, was awarded a bee starter kit valued at ₱15,000. The provision of these kits aims to support the establishment of campus bee production activities and afford students valuable opportunities to develop practical skills through hands-on learning.
SCSC expresses its sincere gratitude to the Department of Agriculture and NUPAP for this valuable training opportunity and the generous provision of the starter kits. This support opens new avenues for agricultural education and student development.
