BONGAO, TAWI-TAWI โ Four delegates from South Cotabato State College (SCSC) successfully completed a week-long regional capacity-building program held from August 14 to 18, 2026, at Bihing Tahik Resort in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi. Organized by the Mindanao Sulu Palawan – Innovative Research and Development Consortium (MINSUPALA-IRDC) and hosted by Mindanao State University โ Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU-TCTO), the training focused on strengthening regional research pipelines to drive agricultural and aquatic economic development.
Under the leadership of SUC President Dr. Edward Lovell B. Brillantes, SCSC continues to prioritize collaborative research frameworks designed to directly empower rural farming and fishing communities. The college delegationโcomprising Research Director Dr. Dexter C. Necor, Institute of Agriculture Dean Dr. Mylene Grace C. Denona, BS Entrepreneurship Program Chair Ms. Teresa M. Lachica, MAST, and Production Director Reymart Jade B. Gavileno, MScโrepresented the institution across all modules to support SCSC’s ongoing MINSUPALA-IRDC Phase 3 research projects.
The intensive curriculum delivered practical training in maximizing the market value of indigenous crops and seafood, protecting research discoveries through intellectual property, commercializing laboratory output, and mastering public speaking to communicate scientific findings to key stakeholders. Delegates also participated in strategic planning for the upcoming 2nd Mindanao Forum, conducted a courtesy visit to the Provincial Governor, and joined local cultural exposure tours. The advanced skills gained during the summit will directly optimize SCSCโs Phase 3 study operations, helping establish a more resilient and innovative agricultural and marine ecosystem in the region.
This initiative directly aligns with South Cotabato State Collegeโs commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically contributing to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by boosting sustainable food security, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through technology transfer and intellectual property protection, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering inter-institutional consortium collaboration across Mindanao.
