SCSC BS DevCom Interns Conclude 200-Hour Internship Program

SURALAH, South Cotabato — South Cotabato State College (SCSC) held the culmination program for its Bachelor of Science in Development Communication (BS DevCom) interns on July 17, 2026, at the College, celebrating the successful completion of their 200-hour internship program.

The student interns completed their internship at Radyo Bandera 98.1 FM, the SCSC Public Relations and Information Office (PRIO), and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region XII, where they gained practical experience in news writing, radio broadcasting, public relations, information dissemination, and multimedia production under the guidance of media and communication professionals.

During the culmination program, Dr. Jaime Boy U. Ngag Jr., BSDC Program Chair, congratulated the interns for successfully completing their training, emphasizing that internship is like “sharpening a pencil.” He explained that while classroom instruction provides the foundation, internship hones students’ attitudes, strengthens their cognitive and psychomotor skills, and develops the flexibility needed to adapt to the demands of the professional workplace.

Meanwhile, SCSC President Dr. Edward Lovell B. Brillantes encouraged the interns to value the knowledge, skills, and experiences they acquired from their respective offices of assignment. He reminded them to remain humble, uphold integrity and good character, and carry the lessons they learned as they pursue careers in communication and media.

The internship program is an integral component of the BS Development Communication curriculum, providing students with meaningful exposure that bridges classroom learning and industry practice. Through its partnerships with media organizations and government information agencies, SCSC continues to strengthen experiential learning opportunities that prepare students to become competent, ethical, and socially responsible communication professionals.

The successful completion of the internship underscores South Cotabato State College’s commitment to delivering quality higher education and producing graduates equipped with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to excel in the communication industry and contribute to community development.
