SURALLAH, South Cotabato — South Cotabato State College (SCSC) received farm inputs from the Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Office XII on June 25 under the National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (NUPAP), strengthening the institution’s agricultural education and laboratory gardening initiatives.
NUPAP, implemented under Administrative Order No. 03, Series of 2022, aims to enhance food security among urban and peri-urban communities, generate livelihood opportunities, and promote healthier lifestyles by improving access to nutritious food.
The farm inputs were received by Dr. May Rose Macrohon, Chair of the Agriculture and Crop Production (ACP) Program, on behalf of SCSC. The items were formally turned over by DA Regional Office XII representative Roland James Tuzon.
The assistance included plastic drums, shade nets, wheelbarrows, shovels, a vermitea brewer, HDPE dripline, seed trays, foliar fertilizer, trowels, and pruning shears. According to SCSC, the farm inputs will be used to enhance students’ laboratory gardening activities, providing them with more opportunities to develop practical skills and hands-on experience in agricultural production.
The college expressed its appreciation to the Department of Agriculture through NUPAP for its continued support in advancing sustainable agriculture and strengthening agricultural education.
