SCSC, LGU Surallah, and Talahik Farmers Ink Partnership for Riparian Rehabilitation Project
SURALLAH, South Cotabato – South Cotabato State College (SCSC), the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Surallah, the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Talahik, and the Talahik Farmers Association formalized their partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony held on June 26, 2025, at Barangay Talahik, Surallah, South Cotabato.
The agreement covers the implementation of the MinSuPala-IRDC Phase 3 Study 5 project titled, “Riparian Rehabilitation Through Indigenous Dike System and Selected Plant-Based Biofiltration,” which aims to promote environmental sustainability and support local agricultural development.
An overview of the project and stakeholders’ responsibilities was presented by Mr. Hope P. Esparagosa, while Talahik Farmers Association President Mr. Leonil Duyac conveyed the association’s commitment to actively participate in the initiative.
Meanwhile, Municipal Mayor Hon. Pedro M. Matinong Jr. expressed the LGU’s support for programs that empower farmers and advance sustainable development.
The MOA signing highlights the collective efforts of the academe, government, and local farmers in pursuing environmental conservation and community progress in Surallah.
Barangay Captain Hon. Arnold Buriel welcomed the participants and expressed optimism for the collaboration. The ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Local Government Unit of Surallah, the Barangay Local Government Unit of Talahik, the Talahik Farmers Association, and South Cotabato State College (SCSC) was undertaken under the leadership of SCSC President Dr. Edward Lovell B. Brillantes, duly represented by Mr. Edgar Paolo M. Macrohon, Chief Administrative Officer, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to strengthening academic and community partnerships.
