SCSC-RCY Delivers Relief Assistance to 175 Earthquake-Affected Families in Glan
GLAN, Sarangani—The South Cotabato State College–Red Cross Youth Council (SCSC-RCY), led by Ms. Catherine A. Java, RN, School Nurse, in partnership with various organizations, donors, and volunteers, conducted an Earthquake Relief Donation Drive and Humanitarian Assistance Activity for communities affected by the recent earthquake in Glan, Sarangani.
A total of 175 families received relief assistance during the outreach activity. Of the total beneficiaries, 55 families from Barangay Calatungan, Burias and 120 families from Miasong, Barangay New Aklan were provided with essential relief goods.
In addition to the distribution of assistance, SCSC-RCY volunteers conducted a lecture on proper handwashing procedures in Barangay Calatungan and provided blood pressure monitoring services for residents in Miasong as part of the humanitarian mission.
The activity was supported by South Cotabato State College President Dr. Edward Lovell B. Brillantes, who emphasized the importance of compassion, volunteerism, and community service in responding to the needs of disaster-affected communities.
The relief operation was made possible through the collective efforts of SCSC-RCY and its partner organizations, including the United Employees Multipurpose Cooperative, South Cotabato State College Supreme Student Council, South Cotabato State College Young Entrepreneurs’ Society, SK Libertad, SK Dajay, SK Guinsang-an, and Calvary Baptist Church, along with other donors and volunteers.
The initiative highlighted the importance of collaboration and humanitarian action in providing immediate support to families affected by calamities and reaffirmed the College’s commitment to community engagement and social responsibility.
