With passionate hearts for helping children learn, sixty (60) selected second- and third-year students of the Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTED) program from South Cotabato State College participated in the Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program capability-building activity conducted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Dajay, Surallah, South Cotabato, on April 20, 2026.
The five-day training aims to prepare pre-service teachers for a twenty-day community immersion. Following the training, the tutors will be deployed for two to three hours daily to various far-flung areas to teach incoming Grade 2 learners how to read. Each tutor will handle five tutees throughout the duration of the program. To support the tutors, allowances will be provided to help sustain their needs and ensure the effective implementation of the program.
