After weeks of wearing purple every Wednesday and decorating offices in purple hues, South Cotabato State College officially concluded its National Womenโ€™s Month 2026 celebration at Dajay, Surallah, South Cotabato, on March 26, 2026.
ย
The event was graced by Mr. Arnold B. Aumento, JD, Information Officer III of CHR RO XII, who emphasized Republic Act 11313, also known as the Safe Spaces Act or Bawal Bastos Law. He stated that abuse is never permitted, regardless of where, when, or to whom it happens. The law protects all Filipinos, including women who are vulnerable to catcalling and other forms of harassment.
ย
Atty. Maria Gemma J. Oquendo, Attorney IV of SCSC, also delivered a seminar focused on gender language sensitivity. She emphasized the importance of using gender-neutral nouns and pronouns in both verbal and written communication to promote inclusivity in all contexts.
In addition to the seminar sessions, a wellness energizer was conducted to uplift the participants and provide a sense of fun and engagement.
ย
With the support of SCSC President Dr. Edward Lovell B. Brillantes, HRMO III and GAD Focal Person Elen G. Avila, MAEd, VPAA Dr. Joebert C. Legreso, as well as the faculty and staff, the program was successfully carried out. Each reminded everyone that although the celebration has concluded, the advocacy for womenโ€™s empowerment must continue.
ย
This initiative shows South Cotabato State Collegeโ€™s passion to observing gender equality within the campus and beyond.
