Strengthening Research Excellence: Seminar on Research Proposal Writing and Publication Mentoring
Surallah, South Cotabato – The South Cotabato State College (SCSC), in collaboration with the SOCCSKSARGEN Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (SOXAARRDEC), successfully conducted the Seminar on Research Proposal Writing and Publication Mentoring, a capacity-building activity designed to enhance the research competence of faculty, researchers, and staff from participating institutions, namely, Mindanao State University – General Santos, Holy Child Central Colleges Inc., Southern Christian College, and SCSC.
Held on October 22, 2025, the seminar aimed to improve participants’ ability to develop sound and competitive research proposals and to effectively publish their research outputs in reputable scientific journals. Through expert mentorship, and practical discussions, participants were guided through the essential stages of research conceptualization, proposal development, and publication.
Serving as the resource speaker was Dr. Aristotle Ubando of De La Salle University–Manila, an accomplished author and prolific researcher recognized among the Top 2% of world researchers, based on the study led by Stanford University statistician John Ioannidis. Dr. Ubando shared his expertise and valuable insights on research design, proposal writing, and publication strategies, providing participants with practical guidance to enhance the quality and impact of their scholarly work.
The South Cotabato State College extends its heartfelt gratitude to the De La Salle University, the DOST – Engineering Research and Development for Technology (ERDT), and to the SOXAARRDEC headed by Dr. Julius Jerome G. Ele, for their collaboration and unwavering support in realizing this academic endeavor. Profound appreciation is also conveyed to the SCSC SUC President I, Dr. Edward Lovell B. Brillantes, for his continued encouragement and strong leadership in promoting research-driven initiatives that strengthen innovation, productivity, and excellence. This initiative underscores the College’s steadfast commitment to fostering a vibrant research culture, enhancing collaboration among academic and research institutions, and contributing to the advancement of research and innovation in the SOCCSKSARGEN region.
